Reliance Jio, Reliance Industries Limited’s telecom platform, continues being the fastest mobile network of the country with its high-speed 4G data. The telecom company topped the fastest network charts again this month after topping the chart in the June-July period this year.
During the lockdown, Reliance Jio’s download speed touched a low of 13.3 Mbps due to most professionals working from home and using Jio hotspots in addition to more people downloading higher-than-usual number of movies, web series and games. As live streaming and binge watching touched new highs during the lockdown, the load on telecom networks also increased exponentially.
Reliance Jio’s downloading speed was still higher than that of many of its competitors such as Vodafone with 5.6 Mbps and Airtel at 5.5 Mbps during the lockdown. As the telecom network made a comeback following the start of the Unlock phases, Reliance Jio topped the charts with 16.5 Mbps in June. Idea was second placed but the difference between the speeds of the two networks was evident as Idea’s speed was almost half of Reliance Jio’s speed at an average of 8 Mbps. Idea was, however, the leader in upload speed.
This month, Reliance Jio has further improved its performance. Its downloading speed has increased from 16.5 Mbps to 19.3 Mbps. Vodafone, which has now merged with Idea but continues to report its data separately is leading the charts in upload speed. Idea still continues to be the second placed telecom network in downloading speed, but its rate has not significantly increased as it continues with a rate of 8.6 Mbps. Vodafone has a download speed of 7.6 Mbps and Bharti Airtel has a download speed of 7.5 Mbps.
While some private organizations have declared that Bharti Airtel has the fastest downloading speed, TRAI has busted its myth with its recently released data that has declared Reliance Jio as the clear winner among telecom operators. The recent data was computed by the Telecom Regulation Authority of India (TRAI) at pan-India level on a real-time basis by the MySpeed application.
There is an overall trend of increased download speed across telecom operators, but the highest leap has been taken by Reliance Jio. The download speed for the telecom operator has gone up by 21 percent in September from its data speed in August.
Reliance Jio has revolutionized the telecom operator market by introducing low-cost 4G data plans for the public.
RIL has decided to launch a homegrown 5G network under the banner of Jio Platforms, ready to be deployed for public use by 2021. In the AGM 2020 of RIL, Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced the anticipated launch inspired from the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jio Platforms is getting ready to export these homegrown 5G technologies globally.
Reliance’s Jio Platforms has maintained its consistency in being the national leader in telecom sector and is expected to be a global leader in the coming years.
