Hamilton On Track to Becoming Greatest Ever F1 Racer

Lewis Hamilton, who recently equalled Formula One legend Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 wins in the Eifel Grand Prix surpassed the legend’s record at Portuguese Grand Prix on October 25 this year.

Ever since Schumacher retired from the F1 scene in 2006, there have been debates and talks on when will the impossible record of 91 wins and seven championship wins be equalled and who will be the next legend of the F1 world. Little did Hamilton, who had not even entered the F1 scene when Schumacher retired, know that he will be the most likely racer to do so.

Hamilton, who debuted in the race following the one of Schumacher’s retirement, finished on the podium and showed signs of brilliance from his first outing. The Briton missed out on the world championship in his first season by only one point. Taking a lesson from his first season, he made a comeback in the following one, winning his maiden championship.

Thanks to his unrelenting passion and hunger for titles, Hamilton has been unstoppable since then, winning five championships between 2014 and 2019. Thus, he is just one short of equalling the tally of Schumacher’s seven world championship titles.

With Hamilton on a dream run this season, it is expected that he will equal Schumacher’s world championship record this year. One more world championship title and the Briton could be the next greatest of all time in the racing circuit. Over the 13 years since his debut, Hamilton has matured into a fast and furious professional racer, outdriving his opponents with ease to take titles.

At a moment in the Eifel Grand Prix when Schumacher’s son presented his helmet to Hamilton, even the man himself could not imagine surpassing the German legend’s records until he equalled them that day. Yet the astounding numbers of his pole positions in championships show the British racer is the best in business by a wide margin. The difference between Hamilton and Vettel, the racetrack’s second most successful driver is a total of 34 wins which makes Hamilton’s record unattainable for now. The racer has the most pole positions, podium finishes and points than any other racer in the history of F1 racing, making him the most successful racer of all times. The biggest factor in Hamilton’s success is that the racer still has few more years on the track and he is bound to set records of his own. Many have credited his ability to avoid mistakes on the race track and learn lessons from his past for his heroic feats on the race track. His unstoppable campaign to the top and accuracy in racing, has left his contemporaries and supporters in awe, thus establishing his iconic position in the circuit.
