Daily Covid-19 cases in Odisha continue to be in five figures, with 10,649 new ones reported over the past 24 hours, as the virus claimed 19 lives across the state.
During this period, the district of Angul reported three deaths, followed by Puri and Sundargarh with two each, while Balasore, Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Khordha, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, Rayagada and Nuapada registered one each.
Of the total number of new cases reported today, 5,965 came from quarantine centres across the state while 4,684 were from local contacts.
Khordha has logged the highest numbers with 1,557 fresh cases, followed by Cuttack at 930 and Sundargarh at 774, with Angul and Balasore reporting 557 and 503 cases, respectively.
With this, Odisha’s Covid caseload has risen to 5,76,297. While 4,73,680 people in the state have recovered from their bout with coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, current active cases have breached the five-figure mark for the first time, at 1,00,313.
The Odisha government has conducted 1,07,13,098 Covid tests so far.
