Odisha has registered a record 12,390 Covid-19 cases and 22 Covid-related casualties in the 24 hours leading up to today morning, according to official data.
Of the new cases, 6,938 were reported from quarantine centres across the state and 5,452 were from local contacts.
Khordha logged the highest numbers, with 2,201 fresh cases, followed by Sundargarh at 882, Cuttack at 719, Sambalpur at 677 and Mayurbhanj at 480.
Odisha’s Covid caseload has shot up to 5,88,687, with 1,04,016 active cases at present.
While 4,82,345 people have recovered from Covid-19, 2,273 people have succumbed to the deadly virus since its outbreak last year.
Of the latest casualties in the state, the highest was seen in Khordha with four cases, followed by Angul with three, Kalahandi, Kendrapada, Rayagada and Sundargarh with two each, and Balangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati and Ganjam sharing the remaining six.
A total of 1,07,69,312 Covid tests have been conducted in Odisha so far.
