Naveen Lauds ‘Covid Warriors’ as Odisha Crosses 5 Lakh Recovery Milestone

The state has reported 11,732 fresh cases and 19 casualties in latest daily count.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hailed Odisha’s healthcare professionals for their dedication and hard work over the course of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic as the state crossed a milestone of five lakh recoveries today.

“Salute to our #CovidWarriors for achieving this,” the five-time Chief Minister posted on his Twitter account.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 5,02,455 people in Odisha have recovered from the deadly disease.

The state saw a slight dip from its record-high daily Covid cases yesterday, with 11,732 fresh ones and 19 casualties reported over the 24 hours leading up to today morning, according to data posted on the Government of Odisha’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 6,569 came from quarantine centres and 5,163 from local contacts, according to the state Information and Public Relations Department.

The district of Khordha logged the highest numbers with 1,710 cases, followed by Cuttack with 870, Angul with 700, Sundargarh with 641 and Sambalpur with 538 cases.

Khordha also saw the highest number of Covid deaths among all districts during this period, with four reported fatalities. It was followed by Angul and Rayagada that saw three deaths each, with Nuapada and Sundargarh at two each, while Gajapati, Kendrapara, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh and Puri accounted for the remaining five.

With the latest figures, Odisha’s Covid caseload has risen to 6,12,224, with 1,07,403 active cases at present, while the pandemic’s death toll has reached 2,313.

A total of 1,08,82,756 people in the state have been tested for Covid so far.
