Odisha Sees 10,757 Fresh Cases and 22 Fatalities in Latest Covid Count

Odisha continues to be in the thick of its battle against the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic as the state reported 10,757 cases and 22 deaths over the 24 hours leading up to today morning, according to the data posted on the Government of Odisha’s online Covid Dashboard.

Of the total new cases, 6,024 were reported from quarantine centres and the remaining 4,733 came from local contacts, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

This time it is the district of Cuttack that has registered the highest numbers, with 973 cases, leaving behind Khordha with 909, Sundargarh with 832, Angul with 606, and Balangir with 507 cases.

However, the silver city suffered no Covid casualties during this period as Boudh, Khordha, Koraput, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sundargarh reporting three deaths each, followed by Angul with two, and Gajapati and Puri with one casualty each.

With these figures, Odisha’s Covid caseload has now risen to 6,22,981, with 1,06,061 active cases at present. The death toll from the virus has touched 2,335, while 5,14,532 people have recovered from the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The state has conducted 1,09,41,192 tests so far.
