Odisha is seeing a rising trend in its daily Covid cases with 11,498 new ones and a record 25 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, according to official data on the state government’s Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 6,439 were from quarantine centres across Odisha and the remaining 5,059 were from local contacts, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
With 1,497 fresh cases, Khordha district’s overall Covid caseload crossed the 1,00,000 mark (1,00,406) today. It was followed by Cuttack, with 1,107 new cases, Angul (867), Sundargarh (703) and Mayurbhanj (538).
Khordha and Kalahandi reported the highest number of deaths, with four each, followed by Angul with three, Ganjam, Rayagad and Sundargarh with two each, while Balasore, Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar and Puri accounted for the remaining 7.
Odisha’s caseload has risen to 6,55,899, with 1,06,812 active cases at present. While 5,46,631 people have recovered from the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 2,403 have perished from it.
A total of 1,11,18,984 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
