Reporting a marked dip from its record-high daily cases yesterday, Odisha logged 11,108 fresh cases and 26 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to official data on the state government’s online Covid-19 dashboard.
Of the total new cases, 6,219 came from quarantine centres and 4,889 from local contact tracing.
The districts of Khordha, Cuttack and Angul registered the highest numbers with 1,842, 1,084 and 930 new cases. They were followed by Puri with 568 and Mayurbhanj with 546 cases.
Khordha and Koraput reported the highest casualties during the period, with four deaths each, followed by Nuapada, Rayagada and Sundargarh with three each and Kalahandi with two, while Bargarh, Balangir, Boudh, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur and Puri accounted for the remaining seven fatalities.
Khordha has by far had the highest Covid caseload with 1,02,248 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic. Trailing it are Cuttack at 52,989, Sundargarh at 48,957, Ganjam at 29,621 and Angul at 26,047 cases.
With this, Odisha’s overall caseload has risen to 6,68,422, with 98,557 active cases at present. While 5,67,382 people have recovered from the deadly disease, 2,430 people have died from it in the state so far.
A total of 1,12,41,408 Covid tests have been conducted in Odisha.
