For a second day, Odisha’s daily coronavirus cases have remained firmly below the five-figure mark as it reported 7,216 fresh ones and 33 deaths over the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 4,041 came from quarantine centres and 3,175 from local contact tracing.
The district of Cuttack reported the highest numbers with 1,091 cases, followed by Khordha with 809, Kendrapara with 487, Dhenkanal with 428, and Angul with 409 cases.
However, Khordha remains the district with the highest Covid caseload at 1,11,263, followed by Cuttack at 59,512 and Sundargarh at 53,357.
Angul registered the highest number of casualties in the past 24 hours, with five deaths, followed by Sundargarh with four, Boudh, Khordha, Kalahandi and Kendujhar with three each, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Kendrapara and Rayagada with two each, as Dhenkanal and Nabarangpur accounted for the remining two cases.
Odisha’s overall Covid-19 caseload has now risen to 7,39,955, with 1,02,072 active cases. While 6,35,179 people have recovered from the deadly virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 2,651 people have succumbed to it.
A total of 1,15,96,753 Covid tests have been conducted in state so far.
