Odisha Reports 8,735 Cases, Record 37 Casualties, in Latest 24-Hour Period

Odisha has seen a slight rise in its daily Covid tally, with 8,735 cases, and unprecedented 37 deaths over the past 24 hours, according to data from the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 4,892 came from quarantine centres, while 3,843 came from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha has reported the highest numbers with 1,222 new cases, followed by Cuttack with 673, Balasore with 566, Jajpur with 507 and Dhenkanal with 503 cases.

Meanwhile, Angul registered the highest number of fatalities, with five deaths, followed by Cuttack and Kalahandi with four each, Khordha, Jharsuguda, Nabarangpur, and Sundargarh with three each, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Rayagada and Subarnapur with two each, as Balangir, Gajapati, Ganjam and Koraput accounted for the remaining four.

Odisha’s overall caseload has risen to 7,73,732 cases, with 89,956 active cases at present. While 2,791 people have succumbed to the deadly virus, 6,80.932 people have recovered from it.

A total of 1,18,35,365 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
