Odisha Reports 6,019 New Covid Cases, 43 Casualties in Latest 24-Hour Period

Odisha saw a slight rise in daily Covid cases from yesterday as it crossed the 6,000 mark today, along with 43 fatalities, as per data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the 6,019 new cases reported in the latest 24-hour period, 3,397 came from quarantine centres and 2,622 came from local contacts tracing, as per state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha saw the highest numbers with 796 cases, followed by Cuttack with 531, Jajpur with 406, Angul with 335, and Mayurbhanj with 33 cases.

Khordha also registered the highest casualties with five deaths, trailed by Angul, Cuttack, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh with four each, Bargarh, Balangir and Boudh with three each, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj and Puri with two each as the remaining seven deaths were accounted for by Balasore, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Koraput and Rayagada.

Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has risen to 8,31,129, with 71,312 active cases. While 7,56,641 people have recovered from the deadly virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 3,123 people have succumbed to it.

A total of 1,23,87,968 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
