Odisha Sees Record-High Fatalities, 4,469 New Cases, in Latest Covid-19 Count

Odisha has once again hit its daily Covid death toll record with 45 casualties reported today even though daily cases continue to reduce by the day with 4,469 fresh ones registered in the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 2,546 came from quarantine centres and 1,923 from local contacts, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha has logged the highest figures with 612 cases, followed by Cuttack with 413, Jajpur with 370, Balasore with 318 and Dehenkanal with 252 cases.

Khordha also suffered the maximum fatalities, with six deaths, followed by Cuttack with 4, Angul, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Sundargarh with three each, Balasore, Jajpur, Bargarh, Kendrapara, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj with two each, as Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nayagarh accounted for the remaining five.

Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has risen to 8,51,782, with 59,361 active cases at present. While 7,89,066 people have recovered from the deadly virus, 3,302 have succumbed to it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

A total of 1,26,52,397 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
