Odisha Logs 4,339 Covid Cases, 44 Casualties in 24 Hours

Odisha seems to slowly but surely on track to beating Covid-19, with 4,339 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours, although the daily death toll still remains on the higher side with 44 casualties registered during this period, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the new cases, 2,475 came from quarantine centres and 1,864 from local contacts, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha continues to post the highest figures with 700 cases, followed by Cuttack with 480, Balasore with 296, Puri with 255 and Angul with 226 cases.

Khordha also witnessed the highest casualties with five deaths, trailed by Balasore, Bargarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendujhar, Kendrapara, Rayagada, Puri and Sundargarh with three each, Angul, Kalahandi and Nayagarh with two each, as Bhadrak, Balangir, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur accounted for the remaining six cases.

With today’s figures, Odisha’s overall caseload has risen to 8,56,121, with 55,923 active cases at present. While the state’s death toll from the pandemic has reached 3,346, the number of people who have recovered from the deadly disease since its outbreak last year stands at 7,96,799.

A total of 1,27,20,932 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
