Odisha saw a small spike in its daily Covid numbers with 3,456 fresh cases and a record 46 casualties in the past 24 hours, according to the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 1,973 were reported from quarantine centres and 1,483 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
The district of Khordha registered the highest numbers with 499 cases, trailed closely by Cuttack with 480, while Puri, Jajpur and Bhadrak logged 289, 267 and 194 cases, respectively.
Khordha also saw the maximum fatalities, with seven deaths, followed by Bargarh, Cuttack and Puri with five each, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda with four each, Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh with three each, Ganjam, Kalahandi and Mayurbhanj with two each, as Subarnapur, Koraput, Kandhamal and Kendrapara accounted for the remaining four cases.
Odisha’s overall caseload has now risen to 8,86,946, with 34,216 active cases at present. While 8,48,960 people have recovered from the deadly disease, 3,717 have died of it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
A total of 1,32,83,652 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
