Odisha has witnessed a marginal decline in daily Covid numbers from yesterday, with 3,408 new cases and 39 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the latest cases, 1,943 have come from quarantine centres and 1,465 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
The district of Khordha has registered the highest numbers with 582 cases, closely trailed by Cuttack with 548 cases, with Jajpur, Balasore and Puri posting 258, 251 and 215 cases, respectively.
Khordha also reported the highest casualties during this period with nine deaths, followed by Bargarh, Cuttack and Nayagarh with five each, Sambalpur and Sundargarh with three each, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj and Subarnapur with two each as Puri accounted for the remaining one death.
Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has crossed the 9-lakh mark, with 9,00,470 cases, as 3,887 people have died from the deadly disease so far. There are 32,706 active cases at present while 8,63,824 people have recovered from Covid infection since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
A total of 1,35, 54,417 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
