Odisha saw the marginal dip in its daily Covid numbers, with 2,870 fresh cases and 42 deaths reported in the latest 24-hour period, according to the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 1,652 came from quarantine centres and 1,218 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
The district of Cuttack saw the highest figures with 440 cases, followed by Khordha (384) and Balasore (240).
However, Khordha again registered the highest fatalities with eight deaths, followed by Bargarh (five) and Sundargarh (four).
Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has risen to 9,21,896, with 30,227 active cases and 4,196 deaths, although 8,87,220 people have recovered from the deadly virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
A total of 1,40,50,771 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
