While the dip in daily Covid numbers in Odisha continues at a languorous clip, with 2,803 fresh cases registered in the past 24 hours, it saw a record 52 deaths during this period, according to the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 1,597 came from quarantine centres and 1,206 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations Department.
The district of Khordha reported the highest numbers with 475 cases, closely followed by Cuttack (441) and Mayurbhanj (193).
Khordha continues to suffer the highest casualties, with nine deaths, trailed by Bargarh, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Puri and Sundargarh, with five each, and Kendrapara with four.
Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has now risen to 9,24,699, with 29,620 active cases. While 8,90,778 people have recovered from their battles with the deadly virus, 4,248 lives have been lost to it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
The state has conducted a total of 1,41,25,511 Covid tests so far.
