Odisha has finally seen again a significant drop in its daily Covid numbers with 2,487 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours, although it registered 51 deaths during the same period, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the new cases, 1,428 came from quarantine centres and 1,059 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations Department.
The district of Cuttack posted the highest numbers with 422 cases, closely trailed by Khordha (407) and Balasore (157).
Khordha, however, continues to log the highest casualties, with nine deaths, followed by Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj, with five each, and Cuttack, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Puri and Sundargarh with three each.
Odisha’s overall caseload has risen to 9,27,186, with 28,730 active cases. While 4,299 people have died fighting the dreaded virus, 8,94,104 people have recovered from it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
A total of 1,41,88,695 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
