Odisha Logs 2,602 New Covid Cases, Record 59 Deaths, in 24 Hours

Odisha once again saw its daily death toll record shattered as the state reported 59 deaths and 2,602 new cases in the past 24 hours, according to the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest cases, 1,495 came from quarantine centres and 1,107 came from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha was back to logging the highest numbers with 529 cases, followed by Cuttack (397) and Jajpur (183).

Khordha also witnessed the highest casualties, with 10 deaths, followed by Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Puri with five each and Sundargarh, Rayagada, Nayagarh and Ganjam with four each.

Odisha’s overall caseload has now risen to 9,29,788, with 28,105 daily cases at present. While 8,97,362 people have recovered from their battles with the deadly virus since the outbreak of the pandemic, 4,358 have succumbed to it.

A total of 1,42,63,163 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
