Odisha Witnesses Record 65 Deaths, 2,282 New Cases in Latest 24-Hour Covid Tally

Odisha continues its months-long trend of regularly shattering its daily Covid-19 death records, with 65 casualties reported today, as it registered 2,282 fresh cases in the latest 24-hour period, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 1,315 came from quarantine centres and 967 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha logged the highest numbers with 592 cases, followed by Cuttack (289) and Balasore (146).

Khordha also saw the highest fatalities with 14 deaths, followed by Puri, Bargarh and Kendujhar with six each, and Angul and Mayurbhanj with five each.

Odisha’s overall caseload has now risen to 9,39,752, with 25,461 active cases at present. While 9,09,639 people have recovered from the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 4,599 have succumbed to it.

A total of 1,45,68,487 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
