Odisha is back to witnessing a strong downward trend in its daily Covid numbers with 1,993 new cases reported in the past 24 hours, although the daily death toll remains high with 63 casualties registered over the same period, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the latest cases, 1154 came from quarantine centres and 839 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
The district of Khordha saw the highest numbers with 322 cases, followed by Cuttack (297) and Balasore (181).
Khordha also saw the highest casualties with 13 deaths, followed by Bargarh with seven and Mayurbhanj with six.
Odisha’s overall caseload has risen to 9,41,745, with 24,567 active cases at present. While 9,12,463 people have recovered from the deadly disease since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 4,662 have succumbed to it.
A total of 1,46,41,241 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
