The Odisha government yesterday approved six investment proposals worth Rs 493.62 crore that would create employment opportunities for 1,317 persons, officials said.
The state-level single window clearance authority (SLSWCA) headed by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra approved the investment projects.
The state has approved a proposal of Jatia Steel Ltd to set up a 2.50 lakh MT TMT rebar and 2.50 lakh MT wire rod mill at Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur district with an investment of Rs 125 crore.
Another proposal for the establishment of an ethanol plant along with a power plant by JRS Ventures Pvt Ltd at Sonepur against an investment of Rs 121 crore was also approved by the authority.
Besides, the proposal of SNM Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd to set up a hotel and resort facility at the Somolo island in Ganjam district with a cost of Rs 80.25 crore was also approved by the SLSWCA.
The Chief Secretary directed the tourism department to prepare a master plan for tourism development in Chilika lake, including potential islands like Solomo.
