Odisha Logs 7,395 New Cases, 40 Casualties in Latest Covid Tally

Odisha continues to witness a slow and steady decline in daily Covid cases, with 7,395 fresh ones reported in the past 24 hours, along with 40 deaths, according to the data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 4,169 came from quarantine centres while 3,226 came from local contacts tracing, according to the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha registered the highest numbers with 1,069 cases, followed by Cuttack with 868, Jajpur with 516, Angul with 443 and Mayurbhanj with 384 cases.

Khordha once again reported the highest casualties, with six deaths, followed by Cuttack, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj with four each, Angul, Boudh, Jharsuguda and Kalahandi with three each, Bargarh, Balangir and Deogarh with two each, while Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Sambalpur accounted for the remaining four fatalities.

Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has risen to 8,06,094, with 78,687 active cases at present. While 2,952 people have succumbed to the deadly virus, 7,24,402 people have recovered from it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

A total of 1,21,11,143 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
