Up and Down: Odisha Logs 3,427 New Cases, 42 Casualties, in Latest Covid-19 Count

Odisha has witnessed a noticeable dip in its daily Covid numbers from yesterday, with 3,427 fresh cases reported in the past 24 hours, although the daily death count has risen back to the forties with 42 casualties registered during the same period, according to data from the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 1,954 have come from quarantine centres and 1,473 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

Khordha remains the district reporting the highest daily numbers, with 533 cases, followed today by Cuttack at 396, Jajpur at 285, Balasore at 261, and Puri at 217.

Khordha also continues to lead others in daily Covid casualties, logging six today. Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Puri follow with four each, Balasore, Kendrapara and Koraput with three each, Angul, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Nuapada with two each, as Subarnapur, Rayagada and Kalahandi account for the remaining three deaths.

Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has risen to 8,73,925 and death toll has touched 3,550. While there are 40,471 active cases at present, 8,29,851 people have recovered from their battle with the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

A total of 1,30,28,817 Covid tests have been conducted in state so far.
