The persisting nature of the coronavirus pandemic was once again reflected in Odisha’s daily Covid numbers of 3,371 fresh cases and a record 48 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.
Of the latest new cases, 1,922 came from quarantine centres and 1,449 from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department
The district of Khordha was back to registering the highest numbers with 530 cases, followed by Cuttack (468), Balasore (258), Mayurbhanj (222) and Kendrapara (219).
Khordha also suffered the highest casualties with seven deaths, trailed by Cuttack and Nayagarh with five each, Sundargarh and Ganjam with four each, Bargarh, Boudh and Dhenkanal with three each, Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jharsuguda with two each, as Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Puri and Sambalpur accounted for the remaining six cases.
Odisha’s overall Covid caseload has now risen to 9,09,800, with 31,422 active cases. While 8,74,307 people have recovered from their battle with the deadly virus, 4,018 have died of it.
A total of 1,37,59,870 Covid tests have been conducted in the state since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
