World-famous Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson recently got married to her long-time boyfriend and fiancé, Colin Jost, in an intimate ceremony.
The announcement was made public on Instagram as the couple made their “wedding wish” for philanthropy through charity organization Meals on Wheels, a non-profit venture dedicated to resolve hunger issues among senior citizens of the world. By making a donation to the organization, the couple have contributed to the noble cause of feeding hundreds of elders and senior citizens who struggle with homelessness and hunger every day.
The wedding, third for Johansson and first for Jost, only had close friends and family of the couple in attendance as large gatherings are currently inadvisable as per COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Johansson was married first to Deadpool star and internet heart throb Ryan Reynolds and then to Romain Dauriac, with whom she has a child. She separated from Dauriac in 2017, around the same time that Colin broke up with his then girlfriend Rashida Jones.
Jost and Johansson met on the sets of Saturday Night Live, a show Johansson hosted regularly and on which Jost was a head writer and performer. Although the stars had first met way back in 2006, Johansson often says that her first registered memory of Jost dates back to 2010 when she hosted Saturday Night Live and played a part in one of the sketches written by him. The sketch was a parody of Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant. Johansson was directed by her now husband and recalls that he seemed very confident about himself which drew her to him at first.
In 2017, Johansson again appeared on SNL, this time as famous heiress and daughter of US President Donald Trump and Ivanka Trump. She was praised for her great comic timing and looked the part with blond hair back then.
As both Jost and Johansson were newly single during that time, fellow co-stars set them up for a date and the couple reportedly hit it off right from the first date. SNL has been pivotal in bringing the two together as the couple made their first public appearance together at a cast party of the show and also engaged in some hearty PDA. Since then the public appearances only increased with paparazzi spotting them together on multiple dates between 2017 and 2019.
As talks about the Johansson-Jost romance went around Hollywood, the couple started opening up, hinting at being in a serious relationship with each other on many occasions. Jost was seen gushing about Johansson’s joie de vivre and she too found Jost’s wit and sarcasm refreshing. The couple found that they share a deep concern for social issues that are often ignored.
The couple met each other’s families in late 2017, indicating their commitment to their relationship, and got married later in 2019. Their love story came to a full circle in December 2019 when Johansson hosted the SNL for a sixth time and referred to Jost as her “love of my life”, crediting the stage for significant milestones of her life in an emotional moment.
As Johansson and Colin embark on a journey of love and togetherness, their fans and fervent shippers have poured best wishes for the couple on the internet.
