Odisha Posts 2,957 New Cases, 38 Deaths in Latest Covid Count

Odisha’s road to Covid recovery continues, with just 2,957 fresh cases and 38 casualties registered in the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 1,698 were reported from quarantine centres and 1,259 came from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department

The district of Khordha is still seeing the highest numbers, logging 408 cases today, followed by Cuttack with 272, Jajpur with 260, Balasore with 247, and Puri with 219 cases.

Khordha also once again witnessed the highest casualties, with six deaths, trailed by Bargarh and Cuttack with five each, Mayurbhanj and Puri with four each, Sambalpur with three, Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda with two each, as Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Sundargarh, Koraput and Kendujhar accounted for the remaining seven cases.

Odisha’s Covid caseload has now risen to 8,83,490, with 34,965 active cases at present. While 8,44,801 people have recovered from their fight with the dreadful virus, 3,671 people have succumbed to it since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

The state government has conducted a total of 1,32,17,807 Covid tests so far.
