Aprilia SXR 160: Arriving in Style with Speed

After starting the manufacturing of the Aprilia SXR 160, its parent company Piaggio has shared the launch details and features of the scooter. The first lot is expected to hit the market by the end of this month.

The CEO of Piaggio India, Diego Graffi, recently announced that the prices of the Aprilia SXR 160 will be shared with the public in a few days and orders as well as deliveries of the new scooter will start from this month itself.

The new scooter from Piaggio was unveiled at the Auto Expo held in February this year and was slated to be released by mid-2020. However, the launch plans faced a setback with the pandemic wreaking havoc on the automobile manufacturing sector.

Piaggio started Aprilia’s production only late last month, but has now accelerated the process to make up for lost time.

According to Graffi, the Aprilia SXR 160 is a premium maxi scooter which is apt for Indian roads. It has been designed in Italy and comes with the promise of the highest level of comfort for riders.

Believed to be a strong entry in the scooter segment of Indian automobile industry, what with its innovative design, premium comfort and robust performance, the Aprilia SXR 160 is expected to be a popular choice for the Indian riders who are looking for the power of a bike combined with comfort and ease of a scooter. To increase the reach of the Aprilia SXR 160 and other vehicles from Piaggio India, the company has decided to increase the number of dealerships in the country.

The Aprilia SXR 160 will have a new CrossMax design and large windshields and twin LED headlamps. The scooter will also have a great finish in terms of the colour and graphics used on the body. It will have 12-inch alloy wheels with wide pattern tyres which will boost its performance and make manoeuvres smooth on busy Indian roads. The scooter will additionally have a digital instrument panel that will support Bluetooth connectivity.

A 160 cc, single cylinder and fuel-injected engine will boost the power of the scooter. Aprilia SXR 160 will also feature ventilated disc brakes and customized rear shock absorbers which will increase its braking performance and smoothen its riding experience smoother.

Production of the scooter started at the Baramati plant of Piaggio India in the last week of November and it is an extraordinary feat for the company to be ready to launch the Aprilia SXR 160 so soon. Although the price of the Aprilia SXR 160 is yet to be announced, it is expected to cost approximately Rs 1.3 lakh.
