Covid Receding in Odisha: 7,729 New Cases, 39 Deaths in Latest 24-Hour Period

Odisha has seen an appreciable decline in its daily Covid-19 cases, with 7,729 fresh ones and 39 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, according to data on the state government’s online Covid dashboard.

Of the latest new cases, 4,331 came from quarantine centres and 3,398 came from local contact tracing, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.

The district of Khordha registered the highest numbers with 1,062 cases, followed by Cuttack at 720, Angul at 449, Mayurbhanj at 442 and Balasore with 426 cases.

Khordha also witnessed the highest number of casualties during this period, with six deaths, trailed by Sundargarh, Rayagada, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Angul with three each, Boudh, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Deogarh with two each as Balangir, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Kendrapara, Nabarangpur and Mayurbhanj accounting for the remaining six fatalities.

Odisha’s overall caseload has now risen to 7,98,699, with 82,679 active cases at present. While 2,912 people have succumbed to the virus since the outbreak of the pandemic last year, 7,13,055 people have recovered from it.

A total of 1,20,40,830 Covid tests have been conducted in the state so far.
