Odisha has once again posted a significant decline in daily Covid cases, with 6,118 fresh ones reported in the latest 24-hour count, according to the state government’s online Covid dashboard. Meanwhile, the daily death toll remained high by the state’s standards as the dreaded virus claimed 41 lives.
Of the latest new cases, 3,453 came from quarantine centres and 2,665 came from local contacts, as per the state Information and Public Relations department.
The district of Cuttack registered the highest numbers with 640 cases, followed by Jajpur with 563, Khordha with 495, Angul with 416, and Puri with 398 cases.
However, Khordha reported the highest casualties with six deaths, followed by Sundargarh with four, Ganjam and Puri with three each, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Jajpur, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Bargarh with two each, as Angul, Bhadrak, Balasore, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Kendujhar and Nayagarh shared the remaining 10 fatalities.
Odisha’s overall caseload has now risen to 8,19,214, with 76,750 active cases at present. While 3,305 people have succumbed to the Covid-19 since its outbreak last year, 7,39,376 have recovered from it.
The state has conducted 1,22,50,294 Covid tests so far.
